Jamie Powell

Jamie is a student at WSU Global Campus studying Applied Mathematics and a member of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM).

Before joining Island Educational Services, Jamie worked at the Washington State University tutoring center, supporting students in subjects ranging from Algebra I through Calculus III. Jamie also served as a teaching assistant for college-level Geometry and Algebra courses.

As an AWM board member, Jamie helped develop a program designed to support new students in exploring career opportunities, strengthening their academic and professional resumes, and building meaningful connections within their community.

Jamie is committed to a career in education and is passionate about creating accessible, inclusive, and supportive learning environments. They understand the challenges of planning for the future while managing an academic schedule, and believe every student deserves the support they need to succeed.

Outside the classroom, Jamie enjoys applying their love of math to creative hobbies such as designing crochet patterns, making clothing, and drawing.
